New Slang Records is a Kinks-esque stomping, beauty of a track. This release will undoubtedly propel these likely lads out from the shadows of the likes of
The Cribs, and into the limelight where they belong.
What is clear from the start is that
Sukie are heads and shoulders above their peers with an overwhelming ability to entertain the crowd and keep them shouting for more. They have charm by the bucket-load and it’s hard to imagine anyone ever leaving a gig without a big grin and a huge dose of
Sukie satisfaction. Secondly, it’s their willingness to dig a little deeper for the inspiration. Citing influences as diverse as Django Reindhart, The Beatles, Elliott Smith and Chet Atkins it soon becomes clear that these boys have done their homework. A dash of 50's slap back echo, a handful of chords that time forgot and the brash confident swagger of The Strokes are all delivered in a unique style all of their own.
