Sell Your Electronic Music
Some stuff about music and a lot more about Barack Obama!
Some stuff about music and a lot more about Barack Obama!
The build up to the November 2008 U.S elections was one of the most closely followed topics on television throughout last year and continues to build momentum to this day. John McCain, Sarah Palin, George W. Bush and most of, Senator Barack Obama were all in the news while being bombarded with public views, opinions, rants and so and so forth.
If I have to be honest, ever since I read ‘The Audacity of Hope’, I was rooting for Obama all the way. And of course, the media had to call it ‘Obama-mania’. Yet the man was calm all throughout the ordeal. Indeed, he conducted his affairs with a difference!
And while we’re talking about the word ‘difference’, it was interesting to note that President Obama used the power of the Internet to “sell himself” rather than pouring money to advertise through the radio or television. And I think that it was a really smart way to garner publicity in a cost-effective manner.
I find this very interesting because the most powerful man in the world today chose a very smart method (a.k.a the internet) to get his point across in his campaign, which of course, allowed him to run the full course of presidential elections without taking support from the corporations and the lobbyists who seek to bribe their way into the Senate.
And that is why I appreciate the man greatly as he stood for his ideals, and made it happen despite all odds.
Now I don’t mean to be all woozy about this so-called success story, as I feel that they would have elected him anyways considering the fiasco of the past ten years under the Republican Party. I really doubt the public would have even considered electing a white man this time around! But I digress…
There’s a saying that the ones who resist change are the ones who get left behind and in this case, John McCain or Sarah Palin didn’t stand a chance, regardless of whether the name Obama rhymed with Osama! And even that goes to show how ignorant & biased some people can be!
However, this ignorance and bias is not only an affliction of the older generation, but in some cases, in the hearts and minds of our generation just when we’re being handed the baton of taking this world deep into the New Millenium.
Now in writing this, I don’t believe that this pertains to politics only but also to the music industry as well. Very simply, because it’s run by people and those people are no different from the Sarah Palins’ and McCains’ of the world who are gradually coming around to recognize the power of the Internet, and how it can be used so effectively to achieve their objectives with not necessarily having to spend a boatload of money through conventional means.
And much like Obama, I think that upcoming bands should really use the internet as well if they have to craft their own path to success. Well, if it’s free and it helps you with your goals, why not go for it?
And one way by which you can find a global platform to sell your electronic music, is by using the music download community known as Alterhit, where you can post your band bio and music and receive a payment whenever one of your songs is downloaded by the large fan base that are now a part of the Alterhit community. And if that isn’t enough, it encourages people who are your fans to display your music on their profiles, giving them the opportunity to showcase their taste in music to their friends and family, resulting in possible sales that you benefit from. In short, it’s a neatly thought-of concept where everyone can benefit, from the musicians to the fans.
And sooner or later, you’ll realise that three simple words such as ‘Yes we can’ can make a difference!

Alterhit lets artists upload music for the public to listen to and buy. The public can take part in the sale of music by setting up a shop selling music downloads.
