Alternative, Acoustic, Folk rock
Jimmy Richards is a folk pop singer-songwriter from Glasgow, now residing in Ayr. He was a founding member of Glaswegian grunge act Stacked Actors (now Junkyard Shift) and pop punk outfit Best Before End.
At the end of his time with Stacked Actors, Richards was already writing material for his acoustic side project, which soon became his main musical obsession. His songs are universal, concerning everything from the lost innocence of "Ice Cream", the perils of too much drinking in "Tired and Emotional", his own personal traumas at the hands of ex-girlfriends in "Forgetting The Sea", to the Dylan-esque political ramblings of "Staring At The Sun".
Often compared to a mix of Frank Turner and Morissey, Richards has already drawn crowds to many of Glasgow's top venues, including the 13th Note and Nice n Sleazy.
In his short career, Jimmy has already performed with some of the UK's riot folk stalwarts, such as Al Baker and Dave Hughes, as well as American folk singer and agitator Tom Frampton. His new record, "Sky Fish Songs", is a collection of songs written over the past year, and includes the soon to be released singles "Tired and Emotional" and "Ice Cream (Summer Lasts Forever)".
