BIOGRAPHY
Hello. I am Rojo , Hispanic guitarist / singer and restaurant musician . I play music for restaurants in Sussex , Surrey , Kent , Hampshire , Berkshire and London , beautiful music from Spain , Mexico , Cuba and other Spanish speaking countries . Rojo consists of me , John da Silva . I sing and play music on my guitar , stuff like Manu Chao , Buena Vista , Pedro Gonzalez as well as my own Spanish influenced instrumental compositions . I also perform some older style American music - my favoutires are people like Bing Crosby and Marilyn Monroe and generally stuff from 40s and 50s musicals (I hate most musicals from the 60s onwards - oh and by the way, I hate X-Factor, Robbie Williams, Amy Whine-house, boy bands, girl bands, hip-hop, rap, Big Brother , music industry magnates who know nothing about music ie roughly 99% of them etc, etc - you get the picture - just to be balanced, my list of greatest ever musicians would probably include Hendrix, Beethoven, Art Tatum, Paco de Lucia, George Gershwin - sorry to have 3 Estado Unidenses in the list, but they do seem to dominate the world, don't they ! ). Oh yeh and changing the subject slightly , because some of the songs I sing are about revolutions in Latin America , I want to point out that I also hate all terrorists, which includes in no particular order, the Blair/Bush alliance , the dead thug Pinochet and all his supporters , the Spanish cerdo Franco , Al Qaeda and ETA (including any of my Basque relatives that support them - if you're reading this and are upset, tough). However, I do support the general principle of Revolution to remove thuggish , oppressive dictators (while I know this could be applied to ETA under Franco's regime , that was then and this is now - ETA were fighting the fascists then , but now they themselves have become the fascists trrying to subvert an otherwise relatively healthy democracy ). Anyway, enough of the ranting. I am an experienced live performer and I am constantly on the lookout for paid gigs, especially restaurants (I like getting fed at gigs).
